AFTER a first qualifying weekend during the Rallye Monte-Carlo, a field of elite WRC 5 gamers is tackling a virtual Rally Sweden in the second round of the eSports WRC Championship this weekend.
eSports WRC brings the best WRC 5 drivers together for a tournament that runs from January to October, in parallel with the 2016 WRC season.
Nine players qualified in Monte-Carlo for the first semi-final, which will be held during Rally Italia Sardegna in June.
Another nine, three each from the game’s Playstation®4, Xbox One and PC platforms, will fight for qualification on Sunday on a 2.42km virtual version of a Rally Sweden classic stage, Lesjöfors.
The WRC 5 Lesjöfors is a short but extremely challenging stage, with frozen roads lined with snow banks and a succession of tight corners, hairpins and icy sections to put the gamers’ skills to the test.
The weekend’s final will be broadcast live on Twitch on Sunday afternoon.
