SKODA Fabia R5 evo driver Kalle Rovanperä could secure the WRC 2 Pro title with a win on Wales Rally GB next weekend.
So far this season, the 19-year-old Finn and co-driver Jonne Halttunen have scored four wins, two second places and one third place in the WRC’s main support series.
WRC 2 Pro counts only crews’ best eight results and a repeat of Rovanperä’s 2018 GB victory could see him as champion-elect on Sunday afternoon.
“I am not so much focussed on points. After my mishaps in Germany and in Turkey, where I finished third in the category, I want to have a clear run like last year, when I managed to win,” Rovqnperä said.
“I am confident, my Skoda Fabia R5 evo performs very well and I like the nice and smooth gravel tracks in the Welsh forests.”
Competing in Wales for the first time, teammate Jan Kopecký is targeting points for Skoda Motorsport in the WRC 2 Pro manufacturers’ championship, which it currently leads.
