KALLE Rovanperä secured the WRC 2 Pro world championship with his fifth victory of the season at Wales Rally GB.
The 19-year-old Finn, competing in only his first full WRC season, celebrated after leading home Skoda Fabia teammate Jan Kopecký by 4min 47sec
Rovanperä led the four-day event initially before a puncture allowed his teammate into top spot. A similar problem for Kopecký delayed him on Saturday before the Czech rolled to leave Rovanperä in the clear.
“It is simply a great day for all of us. I am happy, that we could master this challenging event so well and that our Skoda Fabia R5 evo was performing without any weaknesses,” Skoda Motorsport boss Michal Hrabánek said.
