(30/1/2014) RALLY Australia officials are on the lookout for a new venue to hold the Super Special Stage when the FIA World Rally Championship returns to the Coffs Coast in September.
With a new team from Hyundai entering the WRC in 2014, officials require a venue larger than Brelsford Park and Coffs Harbour Public School, which served as parc ferme last year.
“The school oval simply isn’t big enough to serve the purpose of housing all the cars,” Event Manager David Catchpole was quoted saying in the Coffs Coast Advocate newspaper.
Hyundai Motorsport will bring two cars to be driven by Thierry Neuville and Australian Chris Atkinson.
The Volkswagen and Citroen teams are also expected to bring up to three cars each while Ford outfit M-Sport could bring six to eight.
Rally Australia officials are on the lookout for not only a new location, but a permanent one.
“We’re hoping to confirm a new multi-year location within a fortnight,” Mr Catchpole said.
