Coates Hire Rally Australia is giving the Coffs Coast region’s aspiring motor mechanics a glimpse of career opportunities in the motorsport industry and, in particular, the FIA World Rally Championship.
At the recent Coffs Coast Careers Expo, the rally launched a competition offering one young local student a place on the WRC technical scrutineering team in September and, before then, a week’s work experience at the private automotive workshop of Chief Scrutineer Barry Habgood, Coastal Exhaust Mechanical Repairs.
Also part of the prize will be a ticket to the Hyundai Super Special Stage in Coffs Harbour on Friday 12 September and Saturday 13 September.
Rally Australia Event Manager David Catchpole says the prize will provide an opportunity for a young local mechanic to kick-start an exciting career.
“Motorsport is a massive industry and there is plenty of potential for keen and talented young people to make careers at many levels from a local workshop right up to being part of a globe-trotting rally team in the World Rally Championship,” he said.
Information on entering the competition is available on this website.
