LEGO has answered the dreams of legions of fans young and old to have their own World Rally Championship car with the release of an exciting new model of the title-winning M-Sport Ford Fiesta.
The latest addition to the LEGO Speed Champions range of sports and racing cars, the 203-piece Fiesta kit is on sale at LEGO stockists throughout Australia and on-line.
The designers at LEGO have recreated the M-Sport Fiesta with the wide wheel arches and big front and rear spoilers that give the new-era WRC cars their exciting look.
The snap-together kit includes a choice of wheel trims, two interchangeable bonnets – one featuring spotlights for night driving – authentic miniature graphics and a driver mini-figure with helmet and racing overalls that can be placed inside the car through the removable windscreen.
When complete, the model measures six centimetres high and wide and 13 centimetres long.
“With two World Rally Championship titles and five rally victories in 2017, it’s hard to think of a more worthy addition to the LEGO Speed Champions range than the M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC car”, said Mark Rushbrook, Ford global director of Motorsport.
“The LEGO Speed Champions series is a fun way to celebrate the success of Ford cars in motorsport. We hope it will inspire future generations of car designers, engineers and rally drivers.”
Fiesta last year powered to victory in both the FIA World Rally Championship drivers’ and manufacturers’ competitions, driven by Sébastien Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia, who are driving for the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team this year alongside Elfyn Evans and Daniel Barritt.
Powered by Ford’s 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, the real-life M-Sport Ford Fiesta rally car is based on the new Ford Fiesta launched across Europe last year. It has already started the 2018 WRCChampionship season in winning-style with victory for Ogier at Rallye Monte-Carlo and Rally Guanajuato Mexico.
The M-Sport World Rally Team and the M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC will be seen in action in the season’s closing round at Kennards Hire Rally Australia on the Coffs Coast on 15-18 November.
