STATE Forests of the New South Wales Coffs Coast that will host Coates Hire Rally Australia next month have won gold at the North Coast Tourism awards.
Orara East, Wedding Bells and Lower Bucca State Forests, all of which play a major role in Coates Hire Rally Australia, won gold in the Specialised Tourism Services category, which recognises facilities that support local and regional tourism.
When not hosting the international drivers competing in Rally Australia, the forests offer visitors an expansive network of more than 400km of roads for trail-bike riding, four-wheel driving and scenic tours.
“We have long believed that the forests of the Coffs Coast offer our visiting World Rally Championship drivers the opportunity to compete among some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia and that has now been confirmed,” Event Manager David Catchpole said.
“We are grateful to the team at the Forestry Corporation of NSW for the support they give us in running the event and we’re delighted for them that their efforts have been acknowledged in this way.
“We congratulate them on this important award.”
