Free Attractions at Rally Australia
Not every aspect of the 2017 Kennards Hire Rally Australia is ticketed – there’s plenty of FREE attractions to experience in and around Coffs Harbour.
If you’re looking for a way to relax on Saturday night after a speculator day of rallying, head to the service park to listen to Byron Bay based singer Lisa Hunt. Lisa’s performance, entitled ‘Forever Soul’, is a reflection on motown, soul, funk, and disco music and has been stunning Australian audiences for a decade. Lisa has performed on Australia’s party circuit and at some of the nation’s biggest blues, soul, jazz, and country music festivals. Lisa has performed, recorded, and toured with some of Australia’s biggest music stars, including Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, and Midnight Oil. Make sure you head to the Service Park on Saturday night to catch the free performance by one of Australia’s successful artists. Check back closer to the date to see the times for this event.
RALLY SHOW CEREMONIAL START
World Rally drivers are among the friendliest and most accessible sportsmen you’ll meet and they’ll all be on deck for the Rally Show and Ceremonial Start on the afternoon of Thursday 16 November. Check out all the cars on display, meet the drivers, get selfies and autographs, and win prizes before the stars and cars drive over the ramp to officially start their weekend journey. 2017 Kennards Hire Rally Australia tickets and souvenirs will be available for purchase here. Please check here closer to the event for more information about location and times.
FINISH PODIUM CEREMONY
Head back to the podium finish after the last stage on Sunday 19 November to see the winners crowned and all the finishers as they cross the stage. It will be the last moment of the rally and of the 2017 WRC season, which finishes in Australia. This spectacular event includes interviews with the top crews and the new World Champion. Did the drivers like the rally? Did they like your welcome? You’ll find out here. Please check here closer to the rally for information about location and times.
MEET THE CREWS
Thursday: 12 Midday. Friday & Saturday: during the 45 min. evening service break.
Please check here closer to the rally for exact times and location.
As soon as possible after they’ve completed the day’s last stage and returned to the service park, the top three drivers and their team managers are interviewed on stage. A highly-entertaining and informal 15 minutes led by WRC Live Radio’s renowned host, Becs Williams, these interviews elicit first-hand experiences, predictions, and anecdotes after the day’s competition. Here’s where you’ll hear the drivers talking openly about their successes and mistakes.
Rallying’s equivalent of racing’s pit lane is called the Service Park, and it’s where you’ll see great entertainment throughout the Kennards Hire Rally Australia weekend. A free Service Park visit is a great way to spend a couple of hours. At scheduled times in the morning, at lunchtime, and in the evening, cars return to their team service bays for replenishment, repairs, and possibly re-tuning. Although service breaks are strictly limited in time, mechanics can do quite major jobs such as changing suspensions or gearboxes – and it’s all on view for spectators through the open fronts of the service bays. Service breaks are a good time to see the drivers as they wait for their cars to be readied, but the best chance comes at the Meet the Crews sessions on Thursday at 12 midday and on Friday and Saturday during the evening service break. And don’t forget, the Service Park is also the best place to buy your event, WRC, and team souvenirs.
