THE award to Rally Australia Clerk of Course Adrian Stafford for world motor sport’s Outstanding Official of the Year has been presented at the annual FIA gala night in Doha, Qatar.
The award was presented last night by FIA President Jean Todt and accepted by Mr Stafford’s daughter Fiona North on behalf of her father, who was unable to be in Doha.
Announcing the award, the FIA praised the professionalism and leadership of Mr Stafford, who has worked in senior roles at all but two events since WRC Rally Australia’s inception in Perth in 1989.
Awards were presented in Doha to all the FIA’s 2014 champions, including Coates Hire Rally Australia winner Sebastien Ogier, who claimed his second straight FIA World Rally Championship with the Volkswagen factory team.
