CLUB COFFS TO BE OFFICIALS HQ FOR RALLY AUSTRALIA

UP to 1500 Rally Australia officials will call Club Coffs home when the FIA World Rally Championship visits the Coffs Coast next September.
Rally Australia and Club Coffs today formalised an agreement for the venue to be the headquarters for officials, mostly volunteers, expected to come from around Australia and overseas, as well as locally, to help stage the 12-15 September event.
The club will provide facilities for officials’ accreditation, outfitting, briefing and operations.
It also promises to be a social hub for off-duty officials, where they can meet to make new friends, renew friendships from past events and share their experiences of working on a major international sports event.
Rally Australia Event Manager David Catchpole presented a framed rally action photograph to Club Coffs Chief Executive Carl Mower to mark the new agreement.

“No big sporting festival like Rally Australia runs without a huge corps of officials. They will give their time to our event to experience the scale and excitement of the World Rally Championship from the inside,” Mr Catchpole said.
“As the successful Sydney Olympics demonstrated, volunteers are a powerful force in more than just numbers. Every one is effectively an ambassador and their presence will provide strong motivation for the whole community to take pride in Rally Australia.
“We aim to give them an exciting and hassle-free experience from the time they check in to Club Coffs to the finish of the rally on Sunday night.
“Club Coffs is a great venue for this. We’ll use its meeting rooms, hospitality areas, car park and other facilities to run an efficient volunteer officials operation.”
Application to be a volunteer official can be made by completing a form at www.rallyaustralia.com, or contacting the Rally Australia office in Coffs Harbour on phone (02) 6648 4972.
Many different roles are open for people with or without rally experience.
