(Event release, 26/1/2013) SUPER-star stunt driver Ken Block, whose spectacular Gymkhana videos have attracted more than 150 million YouTube viewers, says he’s aiming to tackle three more rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship in 2013.
Rally Australia in 2011 is among 19 WRC rallies Block has contested in Ford Focus and Fiesta world rally cars since establishing his Monster World Rally team in 2010.
But he has not revealed yet whether a return to Rally Australia on the New South Wales Coffs Coast on 12-15 September will be part of his 2013 program.
With his team renamed Hoonigan Racing Divison and relocated to new headquarters in Park City, Utah, Block is planning a mixed bag of rally-inspired events.
“Once again, I’m trying to fit in as much driving as possible,” he said.
“For me it’s great to continue racing in the World Rally Championship. Last year I competed in three events and in two of them I finished within the top 10 and scored points.
“I really enjoy being able to stay somewhat competitive in WRC, despite only competing part-time and not being able to log any testing in the car prior to the actual events. Hopefully I’ll be running a similar amount of WRC events in 2013.”
