HARRY Bates will head to Kennards Hire Rally Australia in November as the new CAMS Australian Rally Champion.
Bates, with co-driver John McCarthy, secured the title with victory in the Adelaide Hills Rally, which finished on Sunday.
Adelaide Hills was the penultimate round of the national series, which finishes at Rally Australia on the NSW Coffs Coast on 14-17 November.
With the championship pressure off his back, Bates says he will focus on his ambition to enter the Junior WRC or WRC 2 series in Europe in 2020.
While the championship has been decided, the fight for the runner-up position remains alive and will be fought out on the Coffs Coast between 2016 champion Molly Taylor and Harry Bates’ brother Lewis.
