Information

Patrons with an Australia Disability Parking Permit, which must be affixed to the windscreen of the vehicle, are permitted to access the Accessible car park via Jordan Esplanade. Proceed through the Traffic Control point to the Accessible car park. This is in the same area as Corporate and VIP parking as shown on the map. There is a sealed path opposite the car park all the way to the SSS and the Accessible viewing platform.

The Destination NSW Super Special stage is run on one of the most picturesque peninsulas on Australia’s east coast. Run on bitumen, the stage features multiple locations for viewing with the spectacular Coffs Harbour and Ocean as a backdrop. Cars will jump and slide around showcasing the best of the best in World and Australian rallying. A stage not to be missed! Plenty of food and drinks available. There is a public bar and VIP Corporate facility at the Deep Sea Fishing Club. Merchandise on sale.

QUINNY’S COMMENTS

“You can win or lose here. On tarmac the WRC cars slide around a lot on their gravel spec tyres and its made harder with the wind blowing sand on to the stage up the back near the jump. No problem, just back it in! I get plenty of cheers here so come on cheer on the best! All the locals are welcome so bring the kids down and show them the best drivers in the world.

RALLY AUSTRALIA EXPERT PHOTO TIPS

The DNSW Suer Special is fantastic to get those shots with people in the background. This is best done one the northern side of the bridge. Pan shots work well at this location and its great if you can get some water in the background too. Its crowded so pick your spot early. The setting sun should be behind you for great shots and choose a fast shutter speed to avoid blurry shots. Wide angle lenses here will show the atmosphere.

ACCESSIBILITY

Accessible point, on grass, parking reserved, with amenities and raised viewing area for wheelchairs next to grandstand.

Information

Run in the opposite direction in past years, this year we have made a few course changes and spectators will enjoy a new perspective on this well-known viewing point. Cars will negotiate a 90 degree right onto tarmac off a gravel bridge. Both sides offer great viewing 300 metres of viewing pleasure!

QUINNY’S COMMENTS

Haven’t run this way before, it’s flat out to the turn right at T.  It’s always fun from gravel to tarmac. Getting the car squared up will be a priority here as the bridge edge is on the outside. You can lose time getting back straight. The lads will show you how it’s done! My pic is down by the creek.

RALLY AUSTRALIA’S PHOTO TIPS

Our pic for the best pictures would be to stand on the inside on the Western side. This will allow you to use a wide-angle lens for that iconic sliding away shot. Down close to the creek will be good too. Frame carefully and show some of the road to add context to the shot. Sharpness is your friend and you could be seeing a bit of back light so you may want to add a stop of extra exposure for the first run. The second run through the cars should have great side lighting.

Information

Raleigh Raceway hosts many go kart and drifting events and the number one attraction each year is the Kennards Hire Rally Australia Special stage. Cars use the mixed surface track as a race and rally stage. You will be able to see the cars complete the entre stage and top action is guaranteed as the world’s best put on a masterful display of controlled driving. Cars transition from bitumen to gravel, reminiscent of rally cross and this makes for some exciting sideways action, especially over the finish line. A great spot for families to enjoy all the rally action with shade, food and drink. Watching the action from WRC live is a bonus on the big screen. Get there early to get the best spots to view all the action. Plenty of fun and entertainment for the whole family.

QUINNY’S TIPS

If you are a bit like me and like to put on a show, then this is the place to see the action! This circuit is fantastic. Tight and technical, it rewards the brave especially at the second last corner and the best will show you how the “Scandinavian flick” works. Muck it up and you might demonstrate the “Alaskan roll” – not ideal! This is the place to cheer loudly and make sure us Aussie competitors can hear you!

RALLY AUSTRALIA EXPERT PHOTO TIPS

Raleigh is a great place to grab many different shots. Longer focal length, 200-500mm lenses suit, and you can get wild sliding shots, distance shots and shots as cars enter and leave your field of view. The morning session has the sun behind you. The Golden rule of rally photography is to get the pictures on the first run- the cars have stagers in between and you cannot guarantee that they will return! High shutter speeds are best to avoid camera shake. Back up your SD cards each day too.

ACCESSIBILITY

Suitable for all including wheelchairs, parking reserved in the area on the top of a natural amphitheatre. With amenities.

Information

The cars approach at high speed on tarmac then turn left on Bruxner Park Road. You can expect fast action especially if the 4th place is only seconds away from the podium in the afternoon. This stage can set up a win for the upcoming power stage so anything can happen!

QUINNY’S TIPS

Everyone is planning their finish but as we have seen this year especially at Sardegna, it’s not all over till the red control board. Expect a few hard chargers to build a gap for the power stage. I would! Right up the gravel after the bridge is exciting!

RALLY AUSTRALIA EXPERT PHOTO TIPS

This is a great spot to miss the crowds at Wedding Bells. The cars are on tarmac and select your spot to take advantage of the morning light. Fast shutter speeds show speed well here. Move around and don’t take all your pictures from one spot otherwise all your shots end up one dimensional. Good shots under the trees as the cars approach.
