AUSTRALIA SUPPORTS JEAN TODT AS FIA PRESIDENT

(CAMS release, 26/3/2013)  THE presidents of the leading motoring organisations in Australia have indicated their strong support for FIA President, Mr Jean Todt, to stand for another term in the role.

The call comes following Mr Todt’s highly successful visit to Australia in which he again showed his global leadership on road safety, holding meetings with the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader.

The President of the Australian Automobile Association (AAA), Mr Ross Herron, and the President of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS), Andrew Papadopoulos, have both publicly urged Mr Todt to nominate for another term as head of the FIA.

“Mr Todt has demonstrated effective leadership on a number of road safety and mobility matters and another term as President would provide the certainty and continuity that is needed to see successful outcomes,” AAA President Ross Herron said.

“From a motor sport perspective Jean has done an outstanding job and we would like to see the initiatives he has undertaken during his term to be completed in order to help our organisation to continue its momentum,” CAMS President Andrew Papadopoulos said.

Mr Todt was elected President of the FIA at the end of 2009 for a four year term. The Presidential position is up for election in December this year, for a further four year term.
